Painted between in the artist's studio Manhattan and completed in the Hamptons, this painting was first shown at Annika Connor's solo show "Flora and Fauna" at The Untitled Space.
When talking about this painting Annika said "Something special about this painting that you might not know at first glance is that, while depicting a peaceful garden, it is also one of my activist art pieces.
When the Frick originally devised its expansion plan, they intended to destroy this garden. Art lovers, preservationists, and I protested this destructive plan, and eventually we saved the garden.
This painting was used during those protests to illustrate what needed to be saved.
Fortunately, the Frick‘s final expansion plan, now open to the public, did preserve this garden. Visit The Frick to see the garden in person."
